June Mountain, located about a 20-minute drive north of Mammoth, is a small ski resort with only 6 cable cars. Despite its size, it offers a complete experience with blue, green, and black parks available. The ski slope is wide and flat, making it ideal for practicing techniques, and the scenery is stunning. However, the cable car is slow, although the J7 speed is acceptable. The timing was perfect during this visit as rare fresh powder snow was enjoyed. However, California snow is rather wet, so to experience the lifting power of the powder, one must ski while it is snowing. After the snow stops, it doesn't take long for many places to turn into large snow blocks, meaning that the lifespan of fresh powder snow is extremely limited.
